2009 BFL Lambs

(Merlin - Ram Lamb - Triplet - Ewe: Merion)

(Mercy- Ewe Lamb - Triplet - Ewe: Merion)

(Merlin, Mercy, Meris - Triplets - Ewe: Merion)

Eight so far from four ewes! Two sets of twins, one set of triplets, and a single. The first ewe went Saturday afternoon about 20 minutes after being sheared, the second on Sunday morning, the triplets came Sunday night, and the single appeared Monday early afternoon. All lambs are doing fine so far and ewes are busy mothering. Out of the eight we have six ewe lambs and two ram lambs. One of the ewe triplets is natural color and the ewe single is as well….they are beauties! Four ewes done, four to go. Needless to say the last two nights have been late nights in the barn. I’m hoping for a bit more sleep tonight! Stay tuned!

Note: Merion gave us triplets last year, which was her first year lambing. Our Darla was from Merion's 2008 triplets. Even though Darla was a joy, we really didn't want another "Darla" situation (a small four-pound runt of the littler who couldn't make it with the others so we had to bottle feed and care for her). Merion's 2009 triplets are all eight pounders and seem to be holding their own. Keeping a close watch on them, though...as we are with everyone!

Here's some pics:

(Shearing Lorna Doone on Saturday)
(Shearing Shonah on Saturday)

(First set of twin ewes, Boston and Bell, Ewe: Bonnara. They snuck in 20 minutes after we sheared Bonnara in a barn stall just around the corner from where we were. We didn't hear a peep...just turned around and they were there!)

(Kristy holding Boston. Helping me weigh lambs. I think Kristy likes the lambs. I think Kristy should raise some lambs :-)

(Lacey, single ewe lamb, Ewe: Lorna Doone)

(Lamb games!)

Stay tuned! More pics will follow as more lambs arrive.

OMG!! Could Merlin be any cuter?
Did you do AI, or was your ram just a busy fellow last October?

How sweet! I love all the pictures. I think my favorite is Mercy. She has an adorable face and such a pretty coat.
