Our Newest Alpaca

On Wednesday of this week, our newest addition to the herd is Coco. She's our first cria with color. She's a pure doll. Take a look:
Like all the other alpaca births on the farm, we went out to the barn and there she was. We just miss it every time. I guess that's a blessing because the alpacas have such easy, unassisted births. Here's another pic of Coco. She was just a couple hours old and was running up and down the pasture. She's very curious.
I can't wait to spin Coco! Two crias due next spring!

congrats on the cria!

I know nothing about Alpacas....a family close to work has 10 white ones....is white dominant like in sheep?

Hi Garrett...some people breed only white alpacas, some breed for color. There are 22 natural colors in alpacas. White isn't dominant, it's just a choice. Probably something similar to the color variation in Shetlands. Hope all is well. Sorry for the late response :-)!
