Colorful Weekend

After a family-filled weekend it’s time to buckle down and get lambs weaned, gardens planted, and start making my lists for my trip to Alberta for Fibre Week and more Master Spinner classes. This past weekend was the last hurrah before the busy summer kicks in...and it was filled with color!

Our “dye day” turned into two dye days and a lot of experimentation. Our goal was to create an indigo dye vat and dye baths of Cochineal, Alkanet root, and Madder. We dyed silk scarves, silk hankies, alpaca and wool yarns, wool locks, and mohair. The results were interesting:
